DIY Conservation Day
Brookvale Village Hall and out and about in Brookvale
Saturday 9th August 2009
This event aimed to help people in our area improve and
preserve their homes. It took the form of an all day workshop and was well attended.
This event was sponsored by Basingstoke
and Deane Borough Council and presented by the Hampshire Buildings
Preservation Trust.
We were given lots of information on suitable bricks
and mortar for repair of traditional houses, with full demonstrations of
how to repair timber window frames at a fraction of the window cost.
Jon Willet from the Council was on hand to explain the
background to our conservation area and answer planning questions.
In the afternoon the whole group were invited to visit
5 local homes, to look at practical solutions.
