About Brookvale

Brookvale is a residential area of Basingstoke close to the town centre. There is a variety of housing and the area is remarkable locally for its Victorian and Edwardian terraces. Brookvale has long been considered to be between Essex Road and the Ring Road (west) inclusive of Essex Road and from Worting Road to the Churchill Way including the water works housing. Part of the area is a conservation area and more information on the conservation area can be found on Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s website at http://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/regeneration/historic/caa/_brookvalewest.htm . This site includes information on the history of the area and examples of historic features.

In 1999 Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hampshire County Council and the Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust undertook the Brookvale House Project which gave information on how to look after the terraces in an environmentally sustainable way. Much of the information issued at the time is relevant today and can be found here: Brookvale House Project (PDF 48,837KB).
