Drop in Consultation on changes to Brookvale by the
Councils – January 19th 2010
You
are invited to a drop in consultation at the Village Hall between 9.00am
and 7.30pm to give your views on work so far on the Brookvale Loddon
Project. This is a partnership project; Hampshire County Council and
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council working with the Environment
Agency, special interest groups and the local community.
The
project will create a green route for walkers and cyclists from West Ham Leisure
Park to the town centre facilities and the station, passing through a
chain of open spaces giving improved opportunities for sport, play, quiet
recreation and enjoyment of nature conservation areas.
Please
come along and comment on the outline proposals. The exhibition will
include displays by local community groups, refreshments and a children’s
activity table. There will also be a competition to help find a name for
the path.
These
changes will affect the street scene you see every day. There will be
changes to the parks and flood issues, parking and safe cycling will all
be under consideration. If you can’t make that day please visit the
online consultation pages at http://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/council/consult/currentconsult
, contact Hannah Walton on 01962 832344 or email landscape@hants.gov.uk.
BCA host The Princess and the Pea – Pantomime by Proteus
Sometimes the
smallest things cause the biggest problems......
It's
a hard life being a Handsome Prince, having to spend all your time
looking for the perfect Princess to rescue, and attending silly royal
balls. It's no picnic being a Princess either, especially if you're much
happier climbing trees and fighting dragons, rather than looking pretty
and wearing big dresses. Come and see what happens when fairy tale
characters decide to do what they really want, and no-one is quite what
they seem! This winter Proteus bring you another classic tale, created
and mixed with their unique blend of physical theatre, circus, music and
film. Suitable for all the family, you'll never look at peas in the same
way again...
The
pantomime will be at Brookvale Village Hall on Sunday 24th
January at 2.30pm. Tickets will be £6, £4 for concessions. Tickets will
be available at our Christmas social event or by calling Pam on 01256
324313. More information on Proteus at http://www.proteustheatre.com/index.html.

Miss Queens Road Scary Halloween House?
See it on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAIngW2WvBU.
The Newmans at 33 Queens Road
put on an excellent display again this year. They had the following
message: “Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone that came trick or
treating to our house on Saturday night. Everyone seemed to have a
good time and the weather couldn’t have been better (a clear night with a
full moon).
We lost count after 200 children, not
including their accompanying adults. An extra big thank you goes to
all those that put money in the collection tin. We raised £139.73 for
St Michaels Hospice.
The whole night had a really good
community feel, with many neighbours meeting in the street and even people
driving in from other parts of Basingstoke just to trick or treat in
Brookvale.
Again thanks to everyone for a great
night
Regards
The Newmans 33 Queens
Rd
Adrian , Eunice Lauren Molly &
Jarrett”
Thank you to the Newmans for putting the
display on for us all, and Well Done for raising all that money! The
Halloween disco in the hall also went down well, see our event report for more information.
Brookvale Green
Route
Hampshire County Council are proposing
works in our area to provide a green route through. The work could involve
adding trees, benches, fences etc. There will be a consultation event on
the planned changes in the hall on Tuesday 19th January from
9am. More details are to follow.
Brookvale in Bloom 2010
It seems early to think about it, but we
would already like to be getting nominations for Brookvale in Bloom 2010.
If you, or someone you know has a lovely display in a hanging basket or
tub, or a lovely front garden (or will do by June 2010!) please do put them
forward by email to info@brookvale.org.uk.
It’s nice to get some recognition (and a prize!) for helping to make our
area look lovely.
If you have any queries about any of the
information on this site please contact us at info@brookvale.org.uk.
